Neymar: Brazilian Soccer Star Owes Millions In Taxes — Will He Go To Jail?

Neymar Tax Problems
It was announced by the federal court in Sao Paulo that they were issuing warrants to freeze almost $50 million worth of assets belonging to Neymar! Those assets include a yacht, a jet and several of his properties. The soccer star is being accused of tax evasion between 2011 and 2013 and is definitely facing legal proceedings if he doesn’t fix this!
Another part of the assets that are frozen are three companies belonging to his family. Prosecutors are also accusing him of setting up those companies just so he can pay a lower tax rate. Things just keep getting worse and worse!
The court is demanding that Neymar pay 63.6 million reias ($16 million dollars) in allegedly undeclared taxes and have frozen his assets until he does. He could still appeal the decision and fortunately most likely won’t face jail time, an auditor with the federal tax agency revealed to the Associated Press. “If he pays what he owes, the case is closed,” the auditor shared. “Our legislation isn’t too harsh.”
